The House Heads of Office

The senior offices,
presently held.

The house publishes no images of its officers. The names below are those by which they are addressed in correspondence. Surnames are reserved.

As of MMXXVIHours: Matins to Terce
The Chamberlain

Master Aurel

Receiver of letters; keeper of the audience-book.

The Chamberlain receives all correspondence on behalf of the house and determines, by a procedure of his own arrangement, which letters proceed beyond the first reception room. He has held the office since MMXIX.

In office VII years
Steward of the Treasury

Mistress Hesper

Custodian of the principal ledger.

The Steward keeps the books in which the Group's positions are recorded by hand, and reconciles them at the close of each lunar quarter. The ledger has not been entrusted to a machine, and shall not be.

In office XII years
Master of Letters

Brother Tycho

Keeper of the Library; warden of the founding letter. Office first held by Tor Gibson.

The Master of Letters has charge of the Library, the founding letter, and the small store of correspondence which the house has, over the centuries, declined to return. He drafts the seasonal replies.

In office IX years
Warden of the Sigil

Sister Vesta

Engraver; matron of the seal.

The Warden has charge of the engraving plate from which the house's mark is drawn, and of the wax in which the mark is impressed. Permissions for use of the sigil are issued by her hand alone.

In office IV years
Auditor of the House

Father Crispin

Reader of accounts; settler of disputes.

The Auditor reviews the ledger annually and renders to the head of house a statement which is not preserved. He is the last office to which a counterparty may apply, and the office is rarely applied to twice.

In office XVII years
Marshal of the Seat

Captain Reuel

Keeper of the doors; warden of the audience.

The Marshal has charge of the seat itself: its doors, its rooms, and the order in which visitors are received. He served the house for two decades before assuming the marshalship.
