The mark of the house is a trident, gules, upon a field sable, within a bordure of gold. It is drawn from a single engraving plate, which is held at the seat and has not left it.
The blazon of the house is, in the language of the College: Sable, a trident erect gules, within a bordure or. It was first impressed in MCMXIV by the founder's hand, in red wax, upon the founding letter; the impression remains.
The engraving plate from which the mark is drawn is held in the Warden's keeping. It has not been re-cut, nor shall it be.
The mark is borne by the head of house, by the senior offices in the conduct of their offices, and by such members of the line as the head of house has named in the register of bearers.
The mark appears upon the founding letter, the registers, the seal in wax, and upon the door of the seat. It does not appear upon goods, vessels, vehicles, or persons.
Any reproduction of the mark, in any medium, requires the written permission of the Warden of the Sigil. Permissions are granted in matters of state, of charity, or of the line. Permissions for matters of trade are not granted.
The unauthorised reproduction of the mark is a matter of correspondence with the Chamberlain. The correspondence is, in the experience of those who have received it, sufficient.
